Goodreads asked J. Kenyarta:

How do you get inspired to write?

J. Kenyarta Music is a must-have. (Depending on the mood/genre of the scene, I choose the track accordingly.) If not listening to music, I often will cue up white noise, typically rain falling on a tin roof.

Next, I choose a conducive setting based on the energy/vibe of the scene I am writing. Sometimes, I am alone. Other times, in a noisy room filled with people. Whatever the case, the job of the ambiance is to ADD to the project, not distract.

Lastly, you can pretty much always guarantee that I'll be there be with a cup (or two) of coffee.
