I have not experienced "writer's block", but I have had problems connecting the dots (so to speak) in a story. In that case, I stop trying to force the characters to behave the way I want and just start writing chapters in a different storyline.
The most difficult part of writing for me is knowing where I'm going with a theme. Once I know where I'm going, getting there is usually the easy part.
