Goodreads asked Lea Sims:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Lea Sims For fiction writers in general, I would encourage them to spend more time discovering the stories that lie within them than hunting for inspiration elsewhere. You will always write more compelling stories from the wellspring of your personal experiences, knowledge, and abilities. No matter what genre, you will bring authenticity to the page when you pour your "unique sauce" into the story. Some genres require more historical research and fact-checking, but you should still trust your instincts and insights to shape how and what you write. To Christian fiction writers, my advice is far more specific. Don't write alone. Your innate gifts of teaching, exhortation, and writing have been given to you by God for a purpose. Writing books, therefore, will always be a partnership, never a solo act. Surrender the process to the Holy Spirit. He's the author. You're the scribe.
