Zoe Philippou
Zoe Philippou asked Juliette Sebock:

When I find myself writing it can be difficult to put personal things on paper. Was is difficult for you to also share those emotions with the world?

Juliette Sebock For the first draft or two, this didn't bother me as much---I tend to find myself better able to express myself on paper than even in my head! But in preparing for publishing, this came to mind more. Knowing that people would be reading those thoughts and feelings is far more intimidating!

I think part of the beauty of poetry came into play for me in this aspect, though. There are so many pieces that are abstract, especially to the reader, so it's a great way to express these feelings without coming right out and saying "I feel like X during situation Y because of Z." Not only does it create something beautiful (or, I like to think it is!), but it forces me to process the emotions in order to create anything. So, in short, there are certainly difficult aspects, but that almost always makes the finished product better!
