Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Riley Costello Waiting at Hayden’s explores the complicated nature of timing in modern-day relationships—a topic I became interested in after I graduated from high school. I had just broken up with my high school boyfriend—not because something went wrong, but because we both got into college in different states. A lot of my college friends were in the same boat. It got me curious about what happens to those people who we meet and fall in love with too soon. In more recent years, I have talked to lots of women who are in the opposite situation—in their thirties, ready to settle down, but haven’t met anyone they truly love yet, so I wanted to explore that perspective as well and ended up with two interconnected stories.
