Goodreads asked Jim Infantino:

How do you get inspired to write?

Jim Infantino I've been writing extremely short stories for a few decades now. They rhyme and have a melody and I refer to them as songs. When inspiration struck in the past, it was usually for a song. A few to several years ago, inspiration struck for something much larger than a song or even an album of songs and I realized I had a novel to write. I tried to avoid it but the inspiration wouldn't leave me and I became that annoying guy at parties with an idea for a novel I might write someday. Knowing this was unsustainable, I finally just made a start. I had a lot of great early readers help me out. They helped turn the early chapters into a sort of performance. In the end, it was done and it was far less painful than I had imagined. It was very much like writing one of those songs, except it doesn't really rhyme.
