Stephen Glover
Stephen Glover asked Jon Athan:

Hi Jon I have recently discovered your books and I am really impressed by the range of material. I was just wondering, how do you choose what to write about next and how do you stay focused while writing? (p.s. have you thought about writing a fantasy/horror hybrid story?)

Jon Athan Although I generally stick to one genre (splatterpunk/extreme horror), I always like adding a little bit variety to my lineup. So, a few times a year, I take a step back and look at what I've released and what I want to release. Then I reorganize my schedule to keep things fresh. Real-life events (including my own emotions) sometimes influence my release schedule as well. If I feel depressed or angry, then I'll write something really dark. And, I think outlining my books has helped me stay focused on writing. I always feel like I have direction thanks to my outlines.

And, I have thought about writing a fantasy/horror story! I actually hope to explore more subgenres next year and I would love to do a Clive Barker-esque novel.
