I'll confess that Coffee-to-Go was inspired by an fan fiction idea I had. However, I quickly realized that the story was completely unique, other than the character names. So, before I even began to write it, I started to redevelop the story with original characters instead.

For the next novel, Soul Surprise, I was inspired by a trope I've always wanted to write: a world where people are born with a mark on their skin that can help them identify their soulmate. From there, I speculated the following scenario.

What if someone born with a soul mark is also bisexual, but represses it and only dates the opposite gender. How would they react if they are faced with the reality that their soulmate is the same gender as they are?
