How do you get inspired to write?

Ellen Hamilton This not an easy question to answer. Inspiration is everywhere, in a painting, in the way a child curls its fingers around your hand, in the wind howling above the treetops, in the way the sun filters through a glade of birches... however, I may not always be able to grasp it and create something out of it.

Oftentimes, a single word spoken by someone will give me an idea and I will scribble away for a good part of the day, pleased with my creativity. Other times, I will see the inspiring aspect right in front of me, but I will be unable to weave my magic through words and will become terribly disappointed.
