Goodreads asked Mark Cindell:

How do you get inspired to write?

Mark Cindell I try to keep myself around things that create inspiration, it doesn't matter if it's cartoons, video games, movies or simply reading new books. I'm a huge fan of Stephen King, James Patterson & John Katzenbach. Else than that I also create my own playlists on my phone & Spotify a lot of times depending what type of scene I create is what I'll listen to, for example: if it's a sad scene I'll listen to music that usually reminds me of sad moments in my life, yup I know that just sounds weird but the truth is if when I'm sad or almost at the edge of crying that pretty much when I can write the saddest scenes of a book, cause the emotions that are running through my veins are raw. I also use a lot of movie scores or instrumental music. But of course this is all just personal preferences everybody has their own method of finding inspiration.
