Write, write, write, and finish. Trust me, every first draft is a dump-fest. The point is to get to the end and then get to the editing. The first novel I wrote went through 4 full edits, and I'll probably do another before agent shopping it again. It's a long process, but I know I'll never do anything else. If you love it, the labor is worth it.
