Goodreads asked Lilye Kerryna:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Lilye Kerryna I walk away. I go get something to drink, maybe a snack. I go give some scritches to the cats. Let the dogs outside and once I let them back in, I set back down to try again.

If that doesn't work to get the words flowing again, I get right back up and lay down on the ground to think. Mostly I mimic a dying cockroach until an idea strikes me, an animal comes over to love on me, or I just feel ridiculous. On the bright side, helps my back so there's that.

If I'm still blocked after that, I move on to a different scene. I don't try to force past the block. I just work elsewhere. The thing about writer's block is that they have a weight to them, an area they cover. So sometimes I just have to step away from that blocked scene to work elsewhere. Eventually, when I return to that scene, I'll have discovered the block is gone.
