Goodreads asked J.N. Welsh:

How do you get inspired to write?

J.N. Welsh Music, music and more music. Did I say music? I actually create playlists for every book. Some of them I've shared with readers on Spotify. You can check that out if you'd like. At the beginning of a project, I keep adding songs really fits a scene, and then I just hit repeat while I write. Songs and lyrics have such an emotional pull. It helps me say-- "THAT! That's the feeling and emotion I want to deliver in this scene. This is where my story is!"--whether that is the "meet-cute" the "black moment" or the "happily ever after." Even after a book, if I hear a song I say "This song reminds me of Luke and Leona at the end of In Tune." I love music!
