Goodreads asked Jonathan Puddle:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Jonathan Puddle Write every day. Set aside 15-20 minutes and write. It doesn't need to be perfect or ever published, but you need to work on your craft daily. I try to sit down and write as soon my kids are out the door to school, and before I look at any kind of social media or to-do list for the day. As you write more and more, you'll find your voice, you'll find your style, and you'll grow your writing muscles.

Once the tools and the skills are developing, then you can put them to use to create something that others will love. Focus on creating something for just one or two people. If you can connect with one person, you'll increase the likelihood that you'll connect with lots of people. (But trying to connect with lots of people rarely works.)
