I love how your book ties so much of your own upbringing and the stories you were raised with as a South Asian woman. What are some other YA/Fantasy books that you would recommend for South Asian women hoping to see themselves represented in this genre?

Swati Teerdhala So many great ones! One of my favorite recent adult fantasy reads was EMPIRE OF SAND by Tasha Suri. In YA, I would recommend AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir (and the entire series!), THE STAR TOUCHED QUEEN by Roshani Chokshi, LIBRARY OF FATES by Aditi Khorana, and A SPARK OF WHITE FIRE by Sangu Mandanna. In MG, I adore THE SERPENT'S SECRET by Sayantani Dasgupta and ARU SHAH AND THE END OF TIME by Roshani Chokshi.
