Goodreads asked Laura Lee:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Laura Lee I stop writing. A book by Victoria Nelson "On Writer's Block" which I read many years ago was valuable to me. Nelson says that when you get writer's block there is usually a good reason for it. Instead of forcing it, go away and wait for your subconscious to come up with the answer. Sometimes I will stop and say, "Why isn't this working?" Then I'll take a nap or a shower or sometimes table a project for months or years. I've learned to make requests of my subconscious and to let it work in the background until the oven timer goes off. When it does, you need to get right on it.
