How do you get inspired to write?

Geraldine Birch By reading a book by a great author. Currently I'm reading a book by biographer Stacy Schiff and her book about Ben Franklin while in Paris, trying to get the French government to help America in her fight against the British for independence. She is a maarvelous writer and funnier than all get out. I love some of her asides as she writes about the goings on between the three men (Franklin was one) dealing with the French. The book is called "A Great Improvisation." Boy does it give an insider view into how America became America.
