I often take mental notes or keep notes on potential events and/or stories that I believe will interest potential readers, fiction or non-fiction.
And, when I am working on a book and writing a word, phrase, sentence or chapter, if I am not hooked on it...then I delete it.
If I am not enjoying the passage I have written, and if I am not having fun or laughing or crying, then my readers won't be either.
For me, as an Author, the work must be crisp, fun, interesting, worthy of the reader's time, in addition to gripping and relevantly emotional.
