The idea for Not Bad People came from a real-life letting-go ceremony that I was invited to. A group of women let off Chinese or Sky lanterns filled with resolutions from a friend's balcony. As they flew away, I found myself wondering what would happen if they hit something - and that's where the first chapter of the book comes from.
