If Midnight Rogue were set in Ankh-Morpork, how would it have changed?

Of course, the city would have been different, and there would have been so many places to visit and characters to run into. I would definitely have included the Mended Drum and the Canting Crew (being a particular fan of Foul Ole Ron).

I would also have tried to build each encounter around a joke, and kept the action entirely within the city instead of adding a dungeon section at the end - unless, of course, the dungeon section became a satire on dungeon adventures!

Finally, the ending would have had more of a sting in it, becoming a reflection on the unfairness of the world in general (and of Ankh-Morpork in particular) and the inevitability of hopes and expectations being dashed. But in a funny way.

Thanks again for the question. If anyone ever puts out a call for writers for Discworld gamebooks, I'll be at the front of the line!
