you rate books with some respect. why do you give 4 and 5 stars to many books a lot?

Damian Barr thanks for your question. I'll answer as best I can. Basically, i want to draw attention to the books I really, really like or maybe even love. Those are the ones I give 4 or 5 stars to. Conversely, some books I haven't rated which I think are actual masterpieces because, tbh, I feel a bit unqualified to give a star rating to say Truman Capote. And some I don't rate because I don't rate them even though I've read them. And often I forget to rate at all. I hope that helps!

With changes to Universal Credit working-class writers, and indeed any writers without a second income, no longer have the safety net of financial support. In the long term do you see this changing the opportunities available for anyone without inherited wealth?

I wind myself right up before a book release. Constantly checking tarot cards, the iching all that stuff. Stuff that does the opposite of calming down my mind. Eventually (before my brain blows up) I've got into the habit of walking, looking at trees, birds, and generally heading out to the wild world. That always quietens my mind. How about you do you suffer from "pre-match nerves" and what do you do to stop it?
