I saw a question below about a book about Miles' children - I second the notion. I'd love to read it. But have you considered "going back in time" and writing another book about a younger Miles? Such as his time as an Imperial Auditor? I love your books but Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen seemed so final.

Having just finished a 43k-word near-half-novel last week (and some trailing editing chores, plus writing a 2,000 word introduction for the upcoming first Baen Penric collection), I am due some slacking off right now. I have no idea what project I will tackle next -- or rather, I have a few ideas lying around breathing shallowly, but none have yet gone live -- but the chances of anything like this seem remote at present.

I love your work and my all time favorite series (not just of yours) is The Sharing Knife. I'm in a intercultural marriage so this series really hit home for me. One thing I admire about characters you write is that you show their intelligence. I always feel like I learn from your them. Could share any insight or tidbits on how you developed Dag and Fawn?

When you are busy writing do you notice a decline in your interest in reading? Or maybe in reading works similar to what you are writing? Perhaps this pertains more to fiction than non-fiction, but I've experienced seasons when a world is actively gestating inside my head and similar stories lose their appeal. Curious to know if others experience something similar. Thank you!

Since the debut of the ebook have you "punched up" the "kindle sample" beginnings of your books, because they are now effectively part of the marketing? I think books used to be like movies, which could start slowly because people had already paid (sunk cost fallacy). They are now like TV shows, that have to grab and hold flighty viewers.
