In the genre of children's books, my advice is keep writing, the more books the better. Series' are a great idea. Marketing is essential, be willing to spend a lot of time on it. Writing the book is by far the easiest and fastest part. As far as sales go, keep your expectations low in the beginning, it takes a long time to build your brand.
