One of the modules I did on my creative writing degree was called Fantastic Worlds, and it was all about fantasy and science-fiction world-building, and the assignments were to write an essay about our world, and then a chapter or short story set there. It was created partly out of necessity, and also as a way for me to deal with my psychosis.
