Goodreads asked Angel Millar:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Angel Millar I usually work on two or three things at a time. I have a main project (such as a book that I'm writing) but I always have other works that I've started or that are in the ideas process. Often, if I'm going to work on something major that day, I will first tackle a work that's still in the ideas stage, either adding some new thoughts or editing a few things out.

This is something I do when I can't work on a major project, wither because I have "writer's block" (which is rarely the case) or because I have to do some research for it for a while. I switch to something that is less developed. When you switch to something more about ideas you get inspired. It helps you to think and to see possibilities. That's essential.
