Goodreads asked A.M. Proctor:

How do you get inspired to write?

A.M. Proctor I've been writing off and on since I could pick up a pen and write down my daydreams and fantasies.

I've been an avid reader since I learned to read and my earliest favorites were Walter Farley's Black Stallion Series. I read a book that fueled my imagination called Can I Get There by Candlelight by Jean Slaughter Doty. That book stuck with me for years.

I didn't read it again until I was in my 20's. My mom and I opened a used book store on Indian Rocks Beach, FL called Upstart Crow. My mom always wanted to be a novelist but she never had the chance to follow her dreams. My pen name is a nod to her dreams as I decided not to wait until it was too late to become the author I've always wanted to be.
