Goodreads asked Summer Kinard:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Summer Kinard I don't believe in writer's block. I think sometimes authors chicken out of making the strong decisions necessary to move a story forward. My take is to just write anyway. See what happens. But usually, I have an outline to kickstart my writing. Outlines are helpful because starting a new chapter is less scary; I know where I'm going. The other way to avoid writer's block, besides not letting yourself chicken out, is to be disciplined about writing. If I'm writing a book, that's what I do. No excuses. To me, "tired" is never an excuse. What does that mean, anyway? You can be tired and write or tired and just bored out of your mind indulging your idea of being tired.
