Goodreads asked Bernd Perplies:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Bernd Perplies You don't have to commute. Really, that's a great thing! I had to commute for ten years while living in Mainz and working in Frankfurt. Most of the time the trains were crowded, most of the time it was too hot in there. And the few times we drove by car we had heavy traffic or even a traffic jam. It was tedious. Now I get up, have my breakfast and then I just need to take a few steps to get to my writer's office. It's absolutely great. (The downside is it is much more difficult to separate live from work. Because work is only a few steps away.)
