C. J. Cherryh's world of the Atevi in her Foreigner series, portrayed with such vividness that it acquires reality. I'd love to visit Shejidan and meet the Aiji and his clever son Cajeiri. And I'd love to see Ilisidi's estate, though I'm sure I'd never dare attempt to ride a mecheita.
