April Henry
A lot of my books start with a "What if?" It might be a real news story. Like Girl, Stolen was inspired by a real local blind girl who was briefly kidnapped when someone stole her mom's car. I saw her on the news and thought - but what if he had kept her? The Girl I Used to Be was inspired by a real 30 yo case - I thought what if you found out your dad was not a killer but a victim? The Lonely Dead started when I thought "What if you could see and talk to the dead?" Run, Hide, Fight Back began with me wondering how we would deal with a terrorist attack on a shopping mall here, which really did happen in Kenya.

Sorry about your apartment and I always think that question to myself. And I even ask my mom "What would you do if that were her?" I love your books. We actually just read Girl, Stolen in my literature classroom and it was a great book. I didn't think that Cheyenne was going to hit Griffon in the head or that Griffin would still be in contact with CHeyanne even after he kidnapped her.
