In all seriousness, I think about this series every day and want to return to it. Unfortunately, it did not gain enough of a readership for Berkley to contract more books in it. And that puts me in a catch-22 situation as these stories take a long time (6 to 8 months easily) to write.
While self-publishing is a very viable option, it's also a significant risk given that Berkley holds the rights, and more significantly, the right to set the price on the first two stories in the series. That is the primary thing holding me back. A lot of new readers won't pick up book 3 without having read books 1 and 2, and the high price of those books is a significant deterrent given how much really good fiction there is out there at $3.99 and less.
So, yes, I hope to return to this series but I don't know when I'll be able to afford to.
