Goodreads asked Shawn Jones:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Shawn Jones For me, writer's block happens when I try to tell the story instead of letting the characters tell it to me. If I try to force a plot twist that sounds cool or I put the wrong character in situation to tie something up, it always throws me out of the story. If I leave the character's head, I can't react the way they would, and when they react the way I would, it throws the story off.
If I still can't get it back, I'll move to another file for a while. Sometimes it helps to get you mind out of the game.
