I rarely have writer's block, but if I do have it, I deal with it by reading or investigating something related to the story I'm working on. If I'm writing about a battle scene, I will pick up a book about ancient weapons. That is where I get ideas. Looking at pictures related to my story will often kick start my writing engine.
