Goodreads asked Barbara Howard:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Barbara Howard Wow! How am I just seeing this question after so long?? I apologize for the delay in my response. My advice is to trust your own voice and write. You may feel like it's not coming together on the page the way it appears in your imagination but that's what the editing process is for. Put the words down. Get started. Be fearless and don't quit. After you have a good draft, set it aside for a week and then come back and read it again or listen to it read back to you. And keep reading and learning about craft. Books by James Scott Bell or KM Weiland are excellent. Also, Stephen King's book, On Writing. Good luck and thanks for the question!
