How long one should live in a society, before writing about it?

Andrew James Pritchard That is a good question Krishna, of course it also depends on how involved you are within that society or community before you start writing about it. Obviously if you have only spent a few days or weeks within a society or community it's rather unlikely you will know enough about it to write in any detail about its culture. Yet after a few months or up to a year you will start to get a better idea about the people around you and what their lives are like, then you can write about that society confidently and with accuracy. The more you know about what you are writing about than the more real and compelling your story will seem to your readers.
