Goodreads asked Buck Wyndham:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Buck Wyndham 1. Write about things, places, events, or people that deeply interest you. It should be a joyous experience to let the words flow, not a chore.
2. For fiction, I find it imperative to spend a lot of time developing a story outline, making sure all the holes are filled and plot lines make sense, and ensuring the story is always going somewhere, before I write a single word of the story. If I don't do this first, I find myself floundering around, trying to find the optimum story arc.
3. Read! The best writers have done a lot of reading first.
