Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Sloane Calder I was sitting in the "How to Speak Klingon" panel at San Diego Comic Con in 2012 and decided "I'm going to write a supernatural mafia paranormal romance series." Once I returned to San Diego, I realized I knew how to write (I wrote ALL THE TIME for my day job), writing a book was a whole 'nother thang.

At the time, the news headlines were about the one-percenters, and I thought "why do the same families control everything for centuries?" The answer was easy: they control the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. They're Elementals and Witches and Wizards. Of course, they control everything, and they govern their secret existence with mafia-style rule, and they're the children of Mother Nature, and they behave BADLY.
