Greetings Jeff I must first say, in light of the current atmosphere of American blacks, my soft heart keeps me feeling merciful and teary-eyed lately. Robert has almost left me feeling hopeless. Admittedly, I thought you were an opportunist and insincere but after research I've found you genuinely loved him and wanted to set the record straight for those who equated him to just a ghetto-drug kid. Tk U4 that?

Thank you for this kind and meaningful message and sorry I did not see it on Goodreads until now. It means a lot that you took the time to read and reach out, and your honesty means a lot as well. I miss him. It’s been nice to stay in close touch with his entire extended family and of course his mom. Last summer I went to a family reunion at Jackie’s home and that was the last time we were all together, though she also recently visited us in California. Anyway, Rob was a good person. It’s nice whenever I hear from people who see that. So thank you again. There is a film adaptation on Netflix now that was a special experience to share with his family and they are all for the most part happy with how it came out. Sincerely, Jeff

Hello Jeff my name is D and I have a couple of things to say to you. Let's start with I mean this in a very respectful way possible, but why did you make this book? What did you want to gain from making this book? (respectfully). Because I feel and this is an opinion but I feel like a black person should be telling this story of Robert. like you gave us insight but you didn't inform us on who Robert really is.

I'm in 8th grade and am currently enrolled in Wight Foundation, a boarding school prep program in Newark. We have read "Best Intentions: The Education and Killing of Edmund Perry", which is about a boy similar to Peace. Was there any inspiration, such as Perry, to write this book? If so, can you explain how Peace and Perry are similar people; if not, can you please share your motivation in writing this story?

I don't know if you read your reviews, but mine relates a story somewhat like Robert's. My question is: Have you heard of many other cases like Robert's after publishing this? Does anyone have any sense of how common it is to be able to live with this kind of background without being drowned by it? Thanks for writing this book.
