The Ampersand Series popped into my head while I was writing something else. The idea of a girl with a special ability learning of a dog fighting ring and trying to save the dogs led to the first chapter and then it became a matter of telling the story of what your responsibilities are when you know something bad could happen. This sense of moral duty and grey area is at play in the whole series.
