Enjoying your new book! Thank you. Right now fires rage in Northern CA & destroying animal habitats. Yet birds still fly here with amazing artistry deeply navigating and moving from interconnection (better than humans) I feel sad seeing corporatocracy's disregard for all Life. Do you have thoughts on the intrinsic sacredness of all Life? How does Buddhism view current destructive economy decoupled from nature?

Sebene Selassie Thanks for reading Cynthia!
Such a great question. At the end of the book, I talk about our crises of intimacy and imagination. I believe we need to get intimate with our own experiences (the joys and the sorrows) so that we have more capacity to become intimate with the word. When we can meet experience with clarity (seeing clearly what's there) and kindness (meeting whatever we encounter with care), then we can respond to life with an open heart of understanding that we are in fact not separate form nature. We ARE nature.
Of course, this internal meets external awareness requires we also know our capacities. It's good to know what's going on in the world and understand how we may be able to help. This includes knowing both our talents/callings and also our energy. I often ask myself "what is mine to do?" -- that means what am I good at, and what do I have the energy for.
I hope that's helpful!
Love
