How do you get inspired to write?

Erinne Bates Often it's someone I see, but don't know, or know very well. In my 20's I was a makeup artist and I loved not knowing a thing about a model's real persona and being allowed to create who I saw/wanted them to be. I think now I often see a stranger and I try to imagine their lives and it leads to a story. Also, it could just be a sentence that someone speaks that makes my heart start pounding with ideas related to their random word...like hospital, or kite.
