A spell called "Luthe's summoning" plays a key role in the story. Who is Luthe? Of course, there is a mage called Luthe in Robin McKinley's Damar Chronicles. Is your Luthe a reference to McKinley's Luthe, or are both references to some Luthe from some older story?

Naomi Novik The name is absolutely an homage to McKinley! The Damar books are some of my absolute favorites and have been since childhood.

Hi, I noticed that the beautiful black and white editions of the Temeraire books are disappearing from the market.. I was wondering wether they will be renewed? It's would be a real shame if they disappeared, the look made the books even more special. A great book deserves a beautiful cover! =)
