Goodreads asked Deborah Ann Davis:

How do you get inspired to write?

Deborah Ann Davis Funny you should ask. I took a non-fiction writing class about 15 years ago in order to create content on our construction website. The teacher told me to get a couple of my pieces published, but at the time, I thought she was just being an encouraging teacher.

About 7 years ago, I contracted Lyme Disease. It was a rather difficult time, and I listened to a lot of music. The songs put the thread of a story in my head. When I was strong enough, I began writing it down. The following year I returned to teaching Environmental Science, but I had been bitten by the writing bug. I wrote during summers until last June, when I left teaching to do this full time. As much as I miss being around the young energy of high school, I love this adventure.
