What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Colleen Anderson Write and read, write and read, and never give up. Persevere. Send out your work. Join workshops and critique groups and study what you're reading. Eventually you'll start to absorb it. I found, when I was starting out, that taking a copyediting course (and I became an editor) helped my grammar as well.
