Kimmery Martin Thank you so much for reading TQOH! The ending of the book was an evolution--my original draft of the book was quite different. Zadie's husband was a point of view character and Emma, while still committing a betrayal, wasn't quite as extreme. Some of the changes in the book came after it sold to Penguin Random House and went through a bunch of editing. To me the most interesting aspect of what Emma did was not so much what she did as why she did it... she was a complicated character! I liked delving into the psychology of their personalities and their friendship and exploring the issues of betrayal and forgiveness.
