Goodreads asked Alex Brown:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Alex Brown The idea for this book took approximately two years to fully develop; I knew that I had a vast amount of experiences that made for interesting stories I just wasn’t sure how to pull them all together into one. The moment I knew exactly how I could compile my stories into one integrated book that was powerful and of meaning was when I was in line for a bar in downtown Denver. A homeless man was asking people for money- everyone was completely ignoring his existence; it was extremely sad. When he asked me, I gave him all the money in my wallet. He was as surprised as he was grateful- the rest of what transpired is written in the book. That’s how I got the title of the book and instantly, in that moment, I knew exactly how I would write it.
