The idea for my most recent book, Bug Queen (available on Amazon to pre-order and out on Halloween 2014) came from a silly conversation with a fellow author. What if a person could control all the bugs? Can you imagine if she got mad and you and made head lice flock to you? Ew.
Then I got this imagine in my head of a woman standing with her hair and skirts blown back, an epic tornado of bugs behind her. She dropped her arm and the bugs--millions of bugs--attacked.
It was also around this time I was watching cordyceps videos. (Google it. I dare you. :D )
These two things made story ideas spark and spark in my head.
