I'm currently writing an historical narrative fiction novel. It was (partly) inspired by an ex-neighbor of mine that was born in 1899. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1914 (underage) to serve in WWI. He was discovered a year later after fighting on the high seas. He was given a bar to re-enlistment until his nineteenth birthday, where he promptly re-enlisted [back] into the navy. Before he retired, he also served in WWII. He was quite an interesting and wise gentleman. More to come in the near future!
