How do you get inspired to write?

Robert M. Kidd Two reasons! I'm fascinated by Carthage and its wars with Rome. Few novelists have tackled Hannibal's campaigns in Italy that almost brought Rome to her knees. I was also intrigued by the idea that European history, perhaps even world history, would have been so different if Rome had been defeated.
All our evidence about Hannibal comes from Roman and Greek sources - Carthage was erased from history. I wanted to set the record striaght.
