Write shit, and know it's going to be shit, and allow it to be shit : ) My book coming out this fall is actually the fourth book I've written; the first three will never see the light of day. They were practice, and fully exemplified the "shitty first drafts" that Anne Lamott recommends. It's uncomfortable to allow yourself to not be perfect. But it may be necessary!
